The Art of Being of Value

"Strive not to be a success, but to be of value."

These are the important words of Albert Einstein, who not only was a genius inventor, but who knew a thing or two about life.

His words resonate and are crucial to the Be Brilliant brand.

If you haven't figured it out by now, we're not just selling handbags here.

No, really. We love designing our products and helping solve problems for women so they feel their most beautiful on the go. But there's more. So much more. We're on a mission to share and to encourage.

And now we're doing more than simply talking. We're doing some walking.

We're proud to announce our new affiliation with the Breaking the Chains Foundation in Los Angeles. It's a partnership you'll be hearing much more about in the years to come.

Sometimes the stars align for people. And our stars and theirs connected serendipitously in Hollywood during events celebrating the 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Stardust, kismet — right in the middle of real stars, you see. The universe had us, and them, in its heart, and we are all the better for the timing.

Debra Hopkins introduced herself to us quietly as her son, Jacob, made the rounds at an Emmy gifting suite where we were handing out bags to celebs. You've probably seen Jacob or at least heard him. He's a popular teen actor who is perhaps best known for playing the role as Alexander Drew in "True Blood" and is heard as the current voice of Gumball Watterson in The Amazing World of Gumball. Jacob is both handsome and charming, and so we congratulated Debra on his good manners and began to chat.

"What do you do?" we asked her. "I've got this foundation," she began to share.

And the more we heard, the more we were inspired. Not only by Debra's passion — she'a a talented actress, director and producer in her own right — but her sheer vision and determination to see her project through and to help other women who suffer, often in great pain and silence, with the fear and pain of eating disorders.

Sound familiar - a fearless woman pushing hard to make her dreams of helping others come true?

We thought so, too. So after months of talks and strategizing, Be Brilliant is partnering with Breaking the Chains Foundation (www.BreakingtheChainsFoundation.org) on some fabulous new projects that will launch in the year ahead. We are honored to be a part of this journey — and to meet men and women all fighting to improve awareness of eating disorders through art.

BTC believes that through dance, music, writing — all sorts of creative mediums — that women and men can break the chains of eating disorders, which often are closeted. This occurs worldwide, but especially in places like Hollywood where an exacting standard of physical beauty is often valued over what's inside.

As you might imagine, there's lots of work to do on this issue — life-saving work — and we are excited to be a part of this amazing organization.

Stay tuned with us as we talk more here about an exciting new project that aligns our Be Brilliant brand — and values — with theirs. We're creating an opportunity to help others and also carrying out our own Be Brilliant GLO philosophy in a different but synergistic way.

After all, the "G" in our GLO stands for "give to others." And with this next step, that's what we are eager to do.
